Rest is a very loose term for what I’m doing today. During my lunch break I will go for a nice 15-minute light stationary bike ride at the company gym and will then do some accessory and mobility work. A true rest and do nothing day would not benefit me at all, the goal here is to just keep the blood flowing.
In other exciting news, I have just signed up for my first Olympic distance triathlon! Previously, I have completed a handful of sprint distance races but want to bring it to the next level with “The Nations Tri”. Olympic distance triathlons require a 1.5k swim, 40k Bike, and 10k Run which is almost double the ~0.8k, ~25k, 5k sprint distance. This race takes place on September 11th, 2016 in Washington DC and pictures from past events make it look like the most well organized and flattest race I have ever done. The almost 1-mile swim is the scariest part but I think I can get through it without drowning assuming we’re allowed wetsuits (which I found out in my last race is like cheating). I will certainly have more on this later including how I plan on preparing for the swim, my goals for the race, and any logistical information I have. In the meantime here is the course map which I hope will take place on a beautiful sunny morning!
